MARKETING WITH RADIO AND TV
December 10 @ 8:00 AM – 9:30 AM
Join Coast Women in Business on Thursday, December 10, 2020 via Zoom video conferencing and learn how to market your business with radio and TV.
Many business owners believe that marketing their businesses with radio or television is too expensive. These valuable tools are often overlooked, but they can be useful in your marketing arsenal.
Radio and TV are great ways to target specific demographics. You can negotiate with stations for ad contracts and coordinate with public relations outreach for interviews.
Find out the ins and outs of working with commercial vs. nonprofit stations. Learn how to work with an independent videographer to promote your business. Community TV and radio may hold opportunities for producing your own show.
Presenters Jamie Connolly with radio station KOZT, Katharine Cole with radio station KZYX, Terence Vaughn with video advertising company Mendocino TV, and Karin Uphoff at Corners of the Mouth will provide you with the information you need to get started with marketing for radio and TV. Cathryn Hrudicka from Creative Sage™ will serve as moderator.
During our virtual meeting, feel free to put any questions in chat so that presenter and moderators can make sure you get the information you need. We can all sip a ☕ beverage 🍵 of our choice in lieu of the complimentary coffee and tea we usually provide at our in-person meetings.

About the Presenters
Jamie is Local Sales Manager at The Coast – KOZT FM, where she has been part of the “Coast Crew” for over 12 years. She helps clients with messaging, placement, and production of their commercials as well as “lends an ear” as a sounding board and resource.
Prior to moving to coastal Mendocino, she worked in major market radio and other industries from small start-ups to Fortune 500 companies. Jamie loves supporting local businesses across Mendocino County to ensure a vibrant community for all.
Katharine is Director of Underwriting at KZYX – Mendocino County Public Broadcasting, where has been involved for many years as an on-air personality (Pride Radio/Sonic Blender) and Mendocino County Public Broadcasting Board member. A professional musician for over 35 years, she was a signed artist to MCA in the 1990s, inducted into the Traditional Music Hall of Fame in 2007, and received a Grammy nomination in 2014. She currently performs live as Kitty Rose in her all-original rockabilly band and as a country duo.
As a longtime contributor to both sides of the music business, Katharine has promoted not only her own projects but also worked as a booker and promoter for several notable live venues including Café du Nord in San Francisco and various festivals throughout the country. Her extensive experience in the “how-to” of promotion and marketing has made her an expert in this very exclusive field from the ins and outs of major touring, extensive radio promotion, and professional recording. Katharine brings this expertise to radio promotion locally and encourages the support of not only small businesses but community nonprofits here.
Terrence (Terry) Vaughn
Terry runs Mendocino TV, which produces all Coast Cinemas video ads as well as Facebook and YouTube videos for other local businesses. He believes in giving each project the dedication and care it deserves.
Karin is a health practitioner and educator in the Western herbal tradition and author of “Botanical Body Care: Herbs and Natural Healing for Your Whole Body.” From 2010 to 2019 Karin was cohost and engineer for the popular radio show “Holistic Health Perspectives” on KZYX. Her passion to empower others through relationships with the natural world comes through in her monthly “Words on Wellness” column in The Lighthouse Peddler magazine as well as teaching community classes.
In addition to her private practice, Karin serves as a nutritional consultant at Corners of the Mouth, a worker-owned collective health food store in Mendocino and is cofounder of the Mendocino County Herb Guild. She’s a professional member of the American Herb Guild, American Herbalist Association, United Plant Savers, and the American Botanical Council.
